Extensis: Connect, Insight & Connect Fonts
Font Management and License Control for Publishers and Agencies
When it comes to professional font management and license control, Extensis offers industry-leading solutions for creative teams and IT departments alike.
Extensis Connect
Connect is a cloud-based platform for managing fonts across teams and departments. As the successor to Universal Type Server, it brings new cloud capabilities for centralized control, easier collaboration, and automatic font activation in Adobe Creative Cloud apps like InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
In hybrid and remote setups, Connect ensures everyone accesses the right fonts at the right time, eliminating manual sharing and version confusion. It enhances workflow efficiency, design consistency, and license transparency.
Teams benefit from a secure, scalable environment and clear oversight of license usage, ideal for agencies, publishers, and corporate design teams managing large libraries.
Extensis Connect+Insight
Connect+Insight extends Connect with reporting and risk analysis. It provides creative and IT teams with deep visibility into font usage and potential licensing conflicts, before they become legal or reputational risks.
A standout feature is the automated project risk scanner, which identifies problematic fonts within a project. Insight also generates reports to inform font purchasing and license optimization.
It’s especially valuable for teams handling multiple clients or branded content, offering transparent compliance monitoring without disrupting design workflows.
Extensis Connect Fonts
Connect Fonts is a tailored option for existing customers using Suitcase Fusion, TeamSync, or Universal Type Server. It retains key features like font activation and organization, while easing the transition to the cloud.
This edition is not publicly listed and is offered by invitation only. Pricing is customized based on prior licenses, ensuring continuity with minimal disruption.

Frequently asked questions about Extensis Connect and Monotype Connect
What are the current Monotype Connect tiers?
Monotype has replaced the former Extensis tier model (Extensis Connect, Connect+Insight, and Connect Fonts). Today there are three options: Monotype Connect as the standard tier, Connect for Agencies for agencies serving multiple clients, and Connect Pro for direct-sale enterprise scenarios. Reporting and risk analysis features, formerly exclusive to Connect+Insight, are now integrated into Monotype Connect.
Is Extensis Connect now Monotype Connect?
Yes. Extensis was acquired by Monotype in 2025, and the product is officially named Monotype Connect. Functionally it corresponds to the former Extensis Connect + Insight; most existing customers still know the product under the old name. Details on the rebrand and current tier pricing in our story: Extensis is now Monotype Connect.
When does the Universal Type Server (UTS) end?
UTS no longer receives new features or security updates. The UTS migration team at Monotype supports customers with the transition through September 2026; after that date, there is no more tool-assisted migration from the vendor. Anyone still running UTS should plan the migration now.
What alternatives are there to Extensis Connect?
For many setups, Monotype Connect is the right choice; the former tier model with Connect and Connect+Insight is no longer supported. Those who want to keep an on-premise architecture or avoid cloud lock-in should consider Insider FontAgent: local or hybrid font management that covers many use cases UTS used to handle. We advise neutrally on which solution fits your workflow.
Who is 3f8h.net for Extensis migrations?
We have worked with Extensis products for over 20 years and have led migration and implementation projects for international publishers and agencies. Our role spans planning, installation, and configuration, training, and acting as an external „Product Owner Fonts”. A concrete example: our migration at Ernst Klett Sprachen.
